Cool Toys For Boys - Christmas 2010

Its only July but the buzz has begun for the best toys for Christmas 2010 and there are some great toys ready to be put under the tree this year.

If you are looking for gifts for boys this year then you have the choice of a number of cool options. The major winners in the toy market this year have been building toys like Lego and the innovative musical toys, Paper Jamz.

Lego needs very little introduction, but in case you don't know...Lego is a construction toy which is made of durable, colored plastic blocks and specialized pieces. Kits come in a number of sizes and themes, from licensed brands such as Harry Potter, Toy Story and Star Wars to Lego's own themes like Castle Kingdoms and Space Police.

Each kit comes with a set of instructions children follow to build specific models. But once the model is built kids can then choose to play with the completed model or take it apart to design and construct their own creations.

Lego has been around for decades and it is possible you had some blocks when you were a kid. Generations of Lego builders have enjoyed the challenge and creative expression Lego offers and modern kids continue to be attracted to the brand. With news that high profile dads like Brad Pitt and David Beckham play with their kids' Lego, it's safe to say Lego is going to continue to be a popular choice for boys (and their dads) this Christmas.

While Lego has been around for decades, a new name on the street has emerged as a sure fire hit this December. Paper Jamz, by tech toy company WowWee is a series of one inch thick guitars and drums that use cardboard embedded with touch sensitive circuits that allow users to play songs simply by touching the surface of the device.

Kids can play preloaded songs on six unique guitars and drums simply by strumming or hitting the printed surface of the instrument. But the real fun comes in free play mode where kids can practice simple chords and really play the instruments, all at the fraction of the price of the real thing. With an added cardboard amplifier the sound can be amped up and kids can form their first garage bands.

A real revolution in design these Paper Jamz guitars and drums retail for $24.99 and can really serve to get kids interested in music.

So if you are looking for a sure fire hit this Christmas for your son, start with these two innovative toys, but get in early as they are sure to be scarce come December.

Why do children need toys to grow and learn

Once the child has completed program for children, the learning process is a bit 'more complicated. A year ago they were learning to eat solid food to chew on a pillow. They have learned that the end can be attached to the mobile over his crib and go around around to read. Now it's time to start thinking about the reading, mathematics, basic components and organizational skills, the further development of social ... the list goes on.

The wrong way, through theseSkill, and you probably know one or two parents like this, it is treated similar to the educational process ... Well, academic. They do not turn learning into something boring, with worksheets and tasks, and so on. Learning should be fun, and if you teach that at a young age will stay with your child for life.

So really, basic skills toys are a pretty important part of learning in a fun and exciting. If the hand of a child a plate and sayLetter, will be bored. But if you hand the child a few alphabet refrigerator magnets, would be writing his name on the refrigerator. If he gets a little 'ambitious, maybe he will piece together to say "Hello Mom", or any number of things. This is what makes learning fun, treat it as a game, not as a chore. In reality, that what we learn at the first place. This is to follow their curiosity, take your challenges and enjoy life ascomes.

played as a child is essential for cognitive development, social and physical. If you are a child of the compilation of its Go Diego Go and see the pitch, he plays, yes, but you also learn something about how the world works, how to set goals and achieve them. If you see pitting a child's action figure Luke Skywalker against Darth Vader, is just kidding, but you also learn something important about human interaction.

You know, in psychotherapy, there are a lot ofStuff that a kind of ambiguous, stuff that is under discussion, but the importance of not including a game. No competent child psychotherapist in the world do not agree with this concept: The game is of vital importance for human development.

Noteworthy is the Sudbury school model of democratic education. This model is used for the Sudbury Valley School, where it plays only seen as important and necessary to name, but as something very serious, are not endangered or anythinglimited. Eighty percent of graduates went to Sudbury graduated from college, and most have already been very successful in life.

It is recommended that any number of excellent toys to play to promote positive development, from toys to learning games to develop. There are hundreds of great products to choose from, but you know ... as long as you keep the child's interests are, as long as you give them a degree of fun challenge, it is very difficultgo wrong. Playing with a variety of fun toys is one of the most important steps for success, happy adults, so keep your children play, keep them active, think, learn and, ultimately, will be grateful.

Baby Developmental Toys For 18-24 Months

From 18 to 24 months your child will go through a language explosion. With this, his imagination and make-believe will go to a whole new level as he is able to communicate his thoughts and feelings. The best baby developmental toys for this age are toys that provide an outlet for his imaginative play. This could be anything from a playhouse to a rocking horse.

The time frame of 18 to 24 months is a period where problem solving becomes a focus for your child. This is also a time when your child will want to experiment with sound. Musical baby developmental toys and any other sound making toys will quickly become your child's favorite.

As his imaginations soars, he'll also partake in dress-up and role playing. Baby developmental toys such as puppets, dolls and costumes will encourage him to be the hero of the day while at the same time promote his verbal skills. Just make sure that the costumes come with Velcro attachments instead of closures that are harder for him to handle by himself, like snap buttons or zippers.

His imagination will propel him to test his limits and boundaries not just mentally, but physically as well. It could be anything from trying to tie shoe laces to testing his strength by trying to move objects which before he had avoided since he knew they were too heavy. And as he's got walking under his belt, he'll begin moving on to running and jumping, etc. Simple games like "Simon Says" and hop scotch are great ways for him to practice.

If you have not introduced your child to counting, this is a great time to do so. Take advantage of all of the counting opportunities that present themselves, such as counting toys or vegetables or fingers or raisins, anything will do. Baby developmental toys like blocks with numbers are great because they still offer the previous benefits of blocks while incorporating his new counting skills. At first the numbers will only be another picture to your child, but as time goes on he will begin to make the connection. As a safety reminder, make sure that the baby developmental toys are painted with water based, non-toxic paint.

As your child learns more about spatial relationships and begins drawing or making lines, you should bring back the shape sorters and the nesting toys. Puzzles with 3 to 6 pieces are also great baby developmental toys because they not only feed his need for matching objects, but they strengthen his self confidence as well giving him a sense of accomplishment.

Lego Star Wars Toys For Kids

Lego Star Wars the game loved by children all over the world has a fascinating history! It all started with the world famous plastic Lego bricks that can be used to build anything a child could ever dream of! In fact, Lego has been around for so long that anyone under the age of 60 has most likely played with these amazing toys!

The story begun in 1932 in a little town in Denmark called Billund! There, a carpenter named Ole Kirk Kristiansen started a small business making wooden toys and other similar things. In 1934 that Kristiansen came up with the name Lego for his toys, inspired by the Danish expression "leg godt," that means "play well" and the Latin word Lego which means "I put together." Business for Ole Kirk was good, but on 1942 something terrible happened! The plant burned down and he had to build it again from scratch! Not only did he manage that, but on 1944 Ole also bought an injection molding machine to make plastic toys which was the first step in the creation of the world famous Lego toys!

The first Lego bricks were made by Kristiansen back in 1949 and were called the Automatic Binding Bricks and were only sold in Denmark! They were small plastic bricks with eight or four studs on their top side. Demand for these toy was so great though that by 1950 half of Kristiansen's business came from them! From then on, the name Lego was adopted and these amazing toys were made available all over the world!

Lego toys of today are very different to those our parents or even we played with as kids! Our kids now can visit Lego theme parks, watch Lego themed movies, or even play video games based on Lego toys! One of those games is Lego Star Wars which is based on one of Lego's most popular and successful product lines!

The first video game was released back in 2005 and was based on the newer Star Wars movies known among fans as the prequel trilogy! The game even managed to get released a month ahead of the last movie of this trilogy, Revenge Of The Sith!

Lego Star Wars was developed by LucasArts and Eidos Interactive for pretty much every console on the market, including the PS 2, the Microsoft Xbox, and PC. It was even ported on Mac computers in August 2005!

Upon its release, Lego Star Wars received the Kidsworld.com Game of the Year award! In May 2005, it was the best selling game in the UK and it lost this post to the official Revenge Of The Sith video game!

A sequel called, Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy was released on late 2006 and a year later both the games were released together on the same disc under the name Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Video games based on the Star Wars tend to be mediocre, but these are some of the best reviewed and most loved by Star Wars fans all over the world! These video games are non violent and therefore ideal for younger kids and the best way for the Lego legacy to remain relative today!

Top Toys for Christmas 2010

While there were a few organizations that came out with lists for Top Christmas Toys in 2010 in July as they usually do, these may or may not actually be the toys that are hot this Christmas. As you know, it's a combination of advertising, marketing message, and children that make up the popular toys every year. From the Beanie Baby craze to Cabbage Patch Kids to Tickle Me Elmo - it seems that every year there is a super popular toy that kids must have and that parents can't find.

Preparing for Christmas 2010

Fall is quickly approaching, which means it's time to start thinking about Christmas shopping. While you may not make any actual purchases yet, you should start to put together your lists. That way, if you see something on sale, you can buy it now and save time later. Also, if there's a toy that you see is becoming popular, you can pick one up. If you're really savvy, you could pick up a few and make a profit selling them or give them to family and friends to make sure they have the hot toy for Christmas 2010.

Finding the Top Christmas Toys in 2010

The good things in life are never easy and making your child happy on Christmas morning by having the most perfect toy is no exception. If you want to make sure you get your hands on the top toy for Christmas 2010, you want to make sure you stay up to date on all new news about the top toys coming out and trends that are happening.

A good way to do this is to set-up a Google Search Alert for "Top Toys Christmas 2010" or other similar terms. This will send you an email whenever there's new news about the most hot toys in 2010. This can give you a valuable heads-up - precious time - that can enable you to go to a store and get the popular item before it becomes too popular.

Listen to the Children

You can listen to the so called toy experts until you are blue in the face (like at Willy Wonka's factory), but you may not figure out what toy your child thinks is hot this year. For finding the perfect Christmas toy in 2010, you want to make sure you listen to what your kids are talking about. Even as Halloween and Thanksgiving come around, they may start dropping hints as to what they think the hottest toy in 2010 is. If you're lucky, it might not be the toy every other child wants, which would make getting it that much easier.

What Are the Best Educational Toys?

Naturally, kids get attracted to new toys and while this is the case, the interest can disappear as fast as it is sparked. It is for this reason that parents have to note that simply because it is advertised on television commercials or placed on store shelves it does not necessarily mean that it is a good for them. What is more, children are also easily swayed by commercials and if you want your kids to learn from the same, it is advisable to use your own judgment in order to ensure that you make the best choice.

This is especially true when shopping for educational toys. They should have that aspect of challenging the kid's imagination. You need to look into various extras in order to select the best from the wide range of toys available at any given time. In most instances, these also offer a lot of fun to the kids and they will ensure that they learn some important skills. When shopping, it is therefore important to ensure that you weigh these factors. The best are those with the capability of keeping the child interested and at the same time demand that they use their creativity in order to explore them. In addition to this, it is important not to pressure the kid into playing but rather, let them explore them on their own. If you note signs of boredom or disinterest, it simply means that it has failed to accomplish the need for which it is designed.

At this point, you should note that there is also a wide range of smart toys to choose. Often, these are incorporated with sounds and letters that make the learning process easy.

Tonka toys were first made by a company called Mound Metalcraft back in 1947, the company back then was mainly concerned with the manufacture of gardening equipment. They knew that gardening tools had to be really tough so they took this knowledge and started to apply it to the manufacturer of toys, they started producing one of the toughest toy trucks ever produced.

The first two designs Tonka started with were the crane and the steam shovel, in there first year of The production, which produced more than 30,000 of these type of toy trucks. At one point, the demand for these trucks was so great that a year of months of production, only a few were sold within one, saw the parents of the true value for the purchase of one of Tonka toys that last and are there to talk to children for years.

Since only two trucks is like now with a variety of different designs and feature sets, Tonka say that in 60 years that produced the toys Tonkahave manufactured over 250 million of them. The reason the toys are so popular is the fact you can treat them as rough as you want, they can withstand the roughest of play and when Tonka say they are tough they mean it.

One of the most popular Tonka of all time was the Tonka mighty dump truck, this was first introduced in 1964 and was the best selling toy truck Tonka ever produced. In the late sixties and early seventies are when the mighty Tonka range really started to take off, started production of toys, such as the powerful cranes, shovels, bulldozer, roller, charge master, mixer, these are just some of the many designs created only.

Cars, trucks, emergency vehicles, fire engines and even a garbage truck; many in sizes suitable for very young children with all the safety features you could possible wish for. The colors are vibrant and eye catching to make their appeal even more desirable for all ages.

The 10 Most Dangerous Recalled Toys

More and more frequently, dangerous, defective toys-and their subsequent recall-continue to make headlines. Although dangerous toys have been produced for decades, some to have hit the market within the last 20 years have been clearly more dangerous, and deadly, than their predecessors-leading to recalls and class actions lawsuits against top toy manufacturers and sellers of these unsafe toys.

The following is LawInfo's list of the top ten most dangerous recalled toys of the last two decades.

Aqua Dots

Produced by the Spin Master Corporation, Aqua Dots were small, colorful beads that were part of a multidimensional design craft kit. However, the chemical compound of these beads included the then unknown "date rape" drug gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB). Children who licked and ingested Aqua Dots were subject to respiratory depression, seizures and often became comatose. One child was reportedly hospitalized for five days after swallowing an Aqua Dot. Spin Master Corporation recalled 4.2 million units and suspended the toy from the market in November 2007.

Mini hammocks from EZ Sales

After 12 confirmed fatalities by asphyxiation (of children aged 5-17) and numerous reports of near-death entrapments, these nylon mini hammocks came to be known as "death cocoons." The culprit behind the flawed design was the lack of spreader bars at either end, which would keep the hammock open when children were swinging and/or resting in them. EZ Sales recalled nearly 3 million of these products and suspended sales indefinitely in August 1996.

Fisher-Price Power Wheels Motorcycle

These very real motorbikes looked like a shiny motorized toy, but in fact were quite dangerous machines. On certain models, the accelerator jammed and became stuck, leading to crashes and accident-inflicted injuries such as lacerations, sprains and broken bones. Fisher-Price recalled 218,000 Power Wheels motorcycles and took the "toy" off the market in August 2000.

Sky Dancers Flying Dolls

These Barbie-inspired 9-inch hard plastic dolls were designed to fly but lacked reliable controls, thus launching with incredible speed in unpredictable directions. After 150 reported injuries, including temporary blindness, broken ribs and teeth, mild concussions and lacerations, almost 9 million units were recalled by manufacturer Galoob Toys and all sales suspended in June 2000.

Easy-Bake Oven by Hasbro

Easy-Bake toy ovens have been around since the 1950's, but this Hasbro model had a clear defect: the front-loading oven would trap tiny hands that were reaching inside of it-inflicting some 77 second- and third-degree burns to children's hands and fingers, including one 5-year-old girl who required a partial finger amputation. Hasbro recalled the oven and stopped distribution in July 2007.

Jarts Lawn Darts

Jarts (a variable of lawn darts) were heavy, metal projectiles that sharply pierced whatever they struck -including many children. Lawn darts were responsible for 6,700 injuries and four deaths in the 1980's and were permanently banned (in all varieties) in 1988.

Snacktime Cabbage Patch Dolls by Mattel

These models from the widely sought-after Cabbage Patch line of the 1980's and 90's had automated jaws that would "chew" whatever was placed in its mouth. The problem: the doll didn't stop chewing. After 35 tiny fingers were reportedly injured by the chomping doll, Mattel removed the dolls from retail shelves in 1997 (although never formally "recalling" the product), and offered 500,000 customers a full refund.

Battlestar Galactica Missile Launcher

In 1978, Mattel launched a series of Battlestar Galactica toy missile launchers known individually as the Viper, the Cylon Raider, the Scarab and the Stellar Probe. In 1979, a child reportedly died after choking on one of the missile launchers-prompting Mattel to recall all BSG models and suspend production.

The Chicken Limbo Party Game

Manufactured by Milton Bradley, The Chicken Limbo Party game lacked sturdy support poles, therefore with the slightest touch, the entire apparatus could shake and collapse on participating children (and any bystanders). After 46 reports of the game collapsing and causing subsequent injuries such as bumps, bruises, welts, chipped teeth, and one fractured foot, Milton Bradley recalled 461,000 CLP units and suspended all sales in 2006.

Clackers

Clackers, which were marketed under a multitude of other names, consisted of two glass-like acrylic balls, each about the size of plum, which swung on either end of a string. The idea was to tug on the middle of the string until the balls swung faster and faster, smacking each other above and below your hand until the motion formed a stunning arc. However, being made of glass, the balls were heavy-leading to numerous reports of injury when they hit children's faces, and when the balls themselves occasionally shattered, causing lacerations. Clackers were pulled from the shelves in 1981 and, later that year, a mandate was issued that any future product(s) be made with foam balls and nylon cords.

Yookidoo Bath Toys Review

Are you looking for some fun bath time toys for your toddler or preschooler? Right now I'm in love with the range from Yookidoo as they are so cute, colourful and lots of fun as well. So I thought I'd review them for you, and I'll look at their two bestselling bath toys, the Yookidoo Flow N Fill Spout and the Yookidoo Stack N Stream Tub Fountain.

Let's look at the Flow N Fill Spout first:

Yookidoo Flow N Fill Spout Bath Toy

This toy is a cute and colourful spout that fits on the side of the bath tub or sink and water is drawn up through the bottom and then streams out the top like a fountain. You (or your child) can turn the water on or off by pressing the face on the main unit.

It also comes with three cups for catching the water or playing with on their own. One of the cups has a cute sponge character inside that when placed into water, the character 'pops' out in peek-a-boo fashion.

There is also a small propeller that will turn when you pour water onto it.

Yookidoo Stack N Stream Tub Fountain Bath Toy

The Stack N Stream has the same cool colors of the Flow N Fill but instead of attaching to the side of the bath tub, it is attached to the bottom instead with the lily pad base floating on the surface of the water. The water is drawn up out of the bottom and through the top of the stacked boats to then cascade down the side again. It also has cute characters at the base that pop up to see what is going on.

You can turn the water off or on by pressing the yellow button on the lily pad.

Children can remove the boats and characters or stack them high and each boat and character has a different feature to play with, for example the red boat will spin around as it sprays water and one of the characters will squirt water from his mouth.

Bath toys make it fun for your child to have a bath and you'll often find, like I did, that it's now difficult to get them OUT of the bath rather than in.

Both the Flow N Fill Spout and the Stack N Stream Tub Fountain are a great bath toys for children aged 12 months to 4 years and you can get them at most good toy stores for under $20.

Time For Non-Violent Toys

Christmas is coming closer and many will start looking for toys. Some toys are regarded as violent but the majority are non-violent toys. If you have children of your own, Christmas can undoubtedly get rather hectic. So do not get into a battle over the last toys on the shelf and remember that Christmas is about the thought and not about the price of the toys. If you are a smart shopper, you can save tons of money on toys for Christmas just by biding your time and shopping around. Another great way to find great deals on toys for Christmas is to buy online.

Since everything ends up in the mouth, at least for the younger kids, educational toys that are chewable or soft plush are favourites. Babies for example, need to experience different textures so vary the materials educational toys are made of. But even as the way toys are produced and what toys can do has advanced, the fact that children play with and can learn from toys has not altered.

Parents spend much time putting thought into what kind of baby toys should be purchased and what should be overlooked. As a comfort, we can now say that we know that so called violent toys compared to non-violent toys have no significant effect on a growing persons behaviour in the future. One may fell good though when you choose a simple wooden toy instead of guns and knifes.

Book are a great complement to ordinary toys. It is great for parents to read to their child, to show the child that learning is very important. Many books for babies and young kids may have pop-up characters, animals with fur that kids can pet, and flowers with a scratch-and-sniff scent. It is also important for parents to read to their children to introduce them to language and to give them ideas. Children learn best when learning is fun and their interests change as the child develops. Learning is also much more fun if it is associated with something that has already captured the imagination of the child.

Many times, simple is the best. To select educational toys that target skills and abilities for the actual stage is important. An educational toy that is too advanced may cause frustration, and one that is too simple will not be challenging enough to warrant attention. Most educational toys are non-violent toys.

Pounding toys are very popular at some ages. Trucks and dolls are often the toy of choice for younger kids. It is a mistake to believe that at this age dolls are specific only to girls. Toddlers, both boys and girls, love animals and dolls made of different materials. It seems that dolls are usually produced in the female form, but they have also replicated the male gender. Dolls may look human, but their characteristics and emotions are a blank sheet, waiting for our imagination to bring them to life. They are also regarded as non-violent toys.

Especially among boys, action figures are great toys that come in many different sizes, prize ranges, and characters. Whatever a child is into, the chances are they make an action figure for them. Many toys now have become digital such as video games, but not all to be played on a screen. For those children who like to be active and travel out doors, most are, an electric go cart or scooter would be ideal. While the scooter won't reach racing speeds they can reach up to 12 mph. This would be an excellent gift any ten year old boy or girl would surely enjoy and appreciate.

Building blocks and sets will encourage the future architect in any youngster. Building ships, planes, and houses, will stimulate creativity promote using technical skills as well. Those children who would like something more artistic drawing and coloring kits would be a very good way to bring out the Leonardo Da Vinci's in the little ones. Though, drawing and coloring kits can suit any aged individual but there are difference in quality and prices ranges when it comes to art supplies. One wouldn't recommend high quality art supplies for younger children.

Word games are also another way to learn and memorize vocabulary. Different types of games are a good way to introduce aspects of basic education such as multiple tables, grammar, and memorization (State capitals for example). Games can make learning more interesting and appealing to young kids. When purchasing toys for girls, one can never go wrong with dolls and doll houses.

Toys For Kids: A Guide To Buying Age-Appropriate Toys

Kids learn in different ways during different times of their development. What was exciting and interesting to a child at age two may become boring when they turn four. Trying to find play items that intrigue and stimulate a child can be difficult. There are thousands of choices on the toy aisles, each one claiming to be the best.

And parents aren't the only ones making the decisions. As kids age, they want a part in the selection process. TV advertisements and peer pressure push children into demanding "must-have" toys, even if they're not age appropriate. And as most parents quickly discern, the most popular toys are usually the most expensive and the hardest to find.

Most toys come with an age recommendation. This recommendation is based on a number of factors, including the age of the child, the expected motor skills, and the level of maturity. However, age labeling should be taken with a grain of salt. Kids mature at different rates, so it's important to think about your child's capabilities when selecting a toy.

Here are some guidelines and suggestions for choosing age-appropriate toys:

Birth to 1 Year: Children of this age do not really play, but they are intrigued by shapes, colors, and anything that makes a sound. Soft stuffed animals, squeaky bath toys, and large, colorful balls will intrigue these new little people. Lay your child on a quilt and place an "activity gym" over him. These gyms have dangling toys that will catch his eye, and he will try to grab or kick them, teaching him to use his developing muscles. Children of this age love to be held, so settle down with some cloth or vinyl books and introduce her to the world of reading.

Ages 1 - 3: As every parent knows, children go mobile at this age, and their toys need to be mobile as well. Also remember, that toddlers play next to other children, rather than with other children, so keep that in mind when selecting age-appropriate toys. Some great choices for this age group include walking toys that kids can push, like baby carriages or small grocery carts. Children in this age group are starting to work on their motor skills, so plenty of paper and thick crayons are essential. Pounding toys are very popular (unfortunately!), and trucks and dolls are often the toy of choice. It is at this age that little people want to mimic big people, so pretend kitchens and toy telephones can make them feel just like mom and dad.

Ages 3 - 5: It's time to hit the road, so a tricycle is a great gift for this age group. Motor skills continue to be on the upswing, so buy puzzles with large pieces, and introduce them to safety scissors and simple crafts. Little girls will like to dress up and have tea, while little boys will spend hours moving cars around a track. This is the age where fads take hold, so be prepared to start a collection of whatever is hot.

Age 5 - 9: Peer pressure hits this age group with a force, and parents will find that only particular toys are acceptable. It's important to keep them learning, so make certain they have computer games and sports equipment. More complicated crafts can be introduced, and that full-fledged bicycle will require a sturdy helmet. There are age-appropriate science kits available, and kids will love to strap on outdoor gear and go exploring.

No matter the age, remember that safety is the key. Is the child mature enough to handle and understand the toy? While a child may want what's pitched in the latest TV ad campaign, buying age-appropriate toys is the best way to insure that your child will have a fun, interesting, and safe childhood.

Toys for Kids Appropriate for Their Age

Not all toys are good for all kids; there are specific types of toys that are appropriate for specific age of your child. Toys for kids should go along with their age, there are studies made by theorists like Sigmund Freud that explains what kind of toy your child will need when he reaches specific age. Kids below one year old needs toys that are safe for their mouth, since all kids that age loves putting everything they grasp inside their mouth. Toddlers wants toys for themselves, they are not yet good with sharing, they can play alongside with other kids, but make sure they have same toys or else they will start fighting.

Toys for kids like infants (age 0 - 12 months) love things they can put inside their mouth and things that are colorful, so you can give them teether or rattles or simply hanging toys that they can try to reach. Whatever it is that you choose to give them, avoid toys with choking hazards. Toddlers stages (age 1 - 3) loves playing with toys and not share them, they can play with other kids but make sure the toys they have are the same because different toys will make the envy from the other and will cause a fight between kids. Preschoolers (ages 4 - 6) are more on sports and running games, so they are not really that much into playing with toys; they are into playing with peers.

Choosing appropriate toys for kids at a specific age means learning something regarding your child, before you buy your child a toy, make a research on it, be sure that the toy you buy is not only intended for playing but also consider the child's safety, and choose a toy that will help his or her brain development.

Vintage Toys Collection

If you are someone who is just in love with Vintage Toys, then I guess that you already have an amazing collection of such toys in your home. These are just toys that will never be produced again and no one will ever be able to replicate them 100%. Why? For the toys that you could find back in the 1940s were just unique. They had something that would set them apart from anything out there. If you have a collection of them and you would delve into comparing them with the toys that you can find in stores nowadays, you will see what I am talking about.

Most of the times, you will see that these Collectible toys will come in many forms, like British Stamps, good old games, Vintage Games and so on. If you want to buy old games, then you should know that there are a lot of places where you could do so, but I advise you to look for them on the internet first, fro there you will be in for a lot of good offers you will not be able to refuse.

Most of the times, for those of us that lived in those times, we would certainly want our children to play with such toys. The toys that we can find nowadays on the market are beautiful, there is nothing bad to say about them. But when comparing them with these ones, they seem to be so lifeless. Maybe it is because we lived in those times and we got to invest too many beautiful moments and memories within them.

If you don't want to buy them for your children, then you should know that such toys are very much useful when making movies. In order to give particular scene a deeper feeling and touch, such toys will be employed in order to touch the viewer more.

There are many such toys that you will be able to consider and because Christmas and the holidays are approaching, you should definitely go on the internet and check them out. Maybe your child loves them and he doesn't even know it yet. It would be best to have him or her by your side and ask him what he or she thinks about such toys.

If your child likes them, then you will definitely know what to buy for him this Christmas. Just make sure to look out for special offers, as there are plenty around the holidays!

Timberworks Toys - High Quality Wood Toy Building Blocks

We recently had the opportunity to visit the Timberworks Toys office and manufacturing location in Columbia, Missouri. While vacationing in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, we took a day trip to meet Chris Heston and tour the Timberworks Toy factory. Chris is a master cabinetmaker and at the suggestion of his wife took the idea of the traditional wooden, Lincoln Log style toys and came up with an unique new dimension on the old favorite as a toy for his son. The logs are notched so they interlock, but that is where the similarity ends. Timberworks logs are made of hard maple and the set also includes flat panels, triangles, and widgets, or "donuts" as Chris called them. These widgets fit over the ends of the logs to provide stability and strength to your child's construction project. Also included in the larger sets are sturdy plastic wheels that enable the child to make cars and planes and anything else they can imagine. All this comes in a bright red duffle bag to store the blocks when not in use.

But this description cannot totally give you the true picture of the toy. The logs are solid; the wood is smooth and has a quality that you can truly feel when you touch the pieces. The shipping weight of the product ranges from 15 pounds for the smaller set to 35 pounds for the King Set which gives you some idea of the sturdiness of the logs. One thing I noticed while we were in the office talking to Chris was that the supports for the countertop holding their computers, printers and other office equipment were made from the logs. These are serious building blocks!

We also toured the production area. Some of the machines were designed specifically by Chris for the first stages of the production. These pieces of precision equipment can make exacting cuts to replicate the logs to keep the pieces consistent so they will always fit together no matter which production batch they came from.

As impressive as the toy is, Chris' passion for the blocks is also infectious. As I said, he is a master cabinetmaker with twenty years of experience. He has thought this product out with the child in mind. How to make it safe, how the pieces fit so the child will be able to use it without difficulty, the educational value and just plain fun value. His slogan, which is printed on every box, is "made by a father for his son."

He also is totally committed to this heirloom quality toy to be totally made in the USA. He employs area workers, gets his lumber from suppliers in the US, and even the duffle bag is made in his home state of Missouri. Even when large furniture companies like the one in our home town has closed it's doors and put so many people on the unemployment lines, this new company is producing a quality product, providing people with jobs. And this Made in America philosophy is not just for the toy business, this is the way Chris looks all aspects of his way of life.

So whether you are looking for a great product to spark your grandchild's imagination, whether you are a parent who home schools, looking for educational, fun toys for your children, a classroom teacher looking for something special for your students, or just a mom or dad looking for something to share some quality time with your child, like Chris, Timberworks Toys wood toy building blocks will more than fill your needs.

On a side note, soon after our visit we found out that Timberworks Toys received the Parent's Choice Gold award for Fall of 2010. I doubt it will be their last award. It's such a great product.

The Key To Selecting Toys For Your Child

In case you are thinking about getting developmental toys and games for a child, you should understand how to differentiate between the regular and learning toys. To be categorized as a toy which educates this product need to instruct or guide a child to grow intellectually, emotionally and physically.

Most often, learning toys function to teach particular subjects such as English, mathematics or science. Nowadays when the economic is declining and most people are facing budget cuts, these educational products are in high demand as parents want to enhance their child's intellectual development.

Consumers are persistently promoting toys which serve a particular functionality and not necessarily the ones providing entertainment. Right now, more than in the past, people are worried about the future. Given that this benefit is essential to consumers like parents and teachers, toy manufacturers seem to be producing numerous learning toys and games regularly. Whenever you are searching for these toys, you should ensure that your selection is appropriate for your child.

Learning is really an ongoing process, so it is very important to pay attention to educational goals instead of selecting developmental toys which are too sophisticated for a specific age group. It's essential to also recognize which skills will be crucial for your child's educational success. As an example, if your child wants to improve his or her writing skills you should focus on these toys. In the event that you need to enhance your child's numerical abilities, it is advisable to concentrate on learning toys in which motivate your little one to solve puzzles.

Even though educational success will be essential in any child's daily life, psychological intelligence will also be important. In selecting learning toys, it's also advisable to remember to incorporate the ones which teach your child to be patient; have responsibility; encourage problem-solving abilities and support team work and sharing. When you are focusing on all of these areas, you can easily find several developmental toys which can be positive to the emotional, intellectual and physical growth of your child.
